This is like a hardware store.

Okay, so we are in the hardware store.
This is a hardware store.
Here you have a lot of sinks on display.
So when something is being shown, it’s on display.
So you usually can’t buy those sinks, but it’s just to show you what the sinks look like that you do buy.
This area is the lighting area, all these lights.
All these lights are on display.
They’re on display.
So they’re being shown on display.
So usually you can’t buy these ones.
These ones are on display and these ones are for sale.
So that’s the difference.
So this is a light for like your nightstand or something.
So this could be called a table lamp or table light.
Two words.
These are light bulbs, light bulbs.
And you put the light bulbs into here.

All of this stuff is for floors.
So these are all floors, tile floors, tile floors.
This is like wood, fake wood, but it looks like wood,
but I think it’s metal.
Oh no, metal or ceramic, but it looks like wood.
More tiles, these are all different tiles, different styles.
So these are all different styles of tiles.
You would have different styles of clothes,
different styles of tiles, different styles of anything,
different styles of shoes. Styles is just the way things look,
like different styles.
Okay, these are all faucets, faucets or taps
for your kitchen sink or your bathroom sink.
These are the shower heads, toilets, toilets.
This is called urinal, urinal, that you pee in a urinal.

These are like work boots, work shoes, work boots.
So this is safety tape.
It’s safety, yellow safety tape.

These are fire extinguishers and they’re used when there’s a fire that breaks out.
You use it to extinguish the fire or to use it to kill the fire or to turn off the fire.
There’s small fire extinguishers and big fire extinguishers.
And the fire extinguishers are always red.
These are hard hats, hard hats.

Okay and this is barbed wire.
You can see there’s little like, it’s very sharp barbed wire.
And that barbed wire is used to make like fence.
So you make a barbed wire fence all along.
Usually to keep the animals in somewhere, you use barbed wire fence.
And that’s what barbed wire is because it’s sharp and it pokes.
It pokes you if you touch it.
So it’s used a lot for animals.
Have you ever gone to a hardware store because you needed tools or materials to fix something at home or anywhere?
Yeah, that’s usually the main reason I go to a hardware store is to buy material, mostly sometimes tools.
Okay, and what kind of tools do you usually buy for your projects like depending on what you fix, right?
Yeah, that’s true.
I have most tools already.
So most of the time it’s a specialty tool that is only useful for one or two jobs that I need to get.
So you go to a hardware store to buy specialty tools, right?
Yeah.
Okay, and can you name five things from a hardware store that you bought recently or that you usually buy?
Usually I buy consumables.
So like nuts and bolts, screws.
What does consumables mean?
Something that wears down and that needs to be replaced.
Can you give me an example of like one consumable?
Big one is like gasoline in a vehicle.
What about a consumable that you would get from a hardware store?
Paper towel, cleaning paper.
And yeah, you finished naming those five things.
So name those five things that you usually get from a hardware store.
Nuts and bolts, nails, sandpaper, wood sometimes, brackets, metal brackets, and then tools.
So have you ever gone bought something and needed to return it because it was unusable or something?
Like sometimes I go to the store and it’s like, I don’t know if this is the exact thing I need,
if it’s a part or something.
And they usually have a return policy where if you buy it and it doesn’t fit or you don’t need it,
you can just return it within 30 days.
So I usually do it a lot actually because it’s kind of convenient.
If you’re not exactly sure, you can just buy it, test it out.
If it’s good, you just keep it.
If it’s not, you can just return it.
So yeah, I do. I buy stuff all the time and I return it if I don’t need it.
But depending on some stuff, some stuff you can’t return, like consumables, like you said,
something that you use, it could be like a can of spray paint.
You can’t return that if you use it.
Or gum, something that you use and you can’t return it after.
But if it’s something like a tool or a socket or a wrench, I buy it.
It’s not the one I needed.
I could return it and then just buy the one I need.
Or I could just, if there’s three that might work,
I could just buy all three and return the two that don’t work
and keep the one that does work.
So yeah, returning I think is very useful.
And have you ever worked in a hardware store before?
I have. My first job was in a hardware store.
I sold everything from screws to boards of wood to cement, concrete, everything.

🛒 Ethan Goes to the Supermarket
It’s a sunny afternoon. Ethan decides to go to the supermarket near his apartment to stock up on some daily necessities.
As he walks in, the first thing he sees is the shopping cart. He pulls one out and heads straight to the household supplies section. He grabs a pack of tissues and a roll of paper towels. Next to them, he sees toilet paper and remembers he’s running low at home, so he puts a big pack into the cart.
Then he moves on to the cleaning supplies aisle. He picks up a bottle of laundry detergent and a bag of detergent pods for his washing machine. He also grabs a mop, a mop bucket, and a spray bottle filled with multi-surface cleaner. On the shelf above, there are rubber gloves, which are great for washing dishes and cleaning the bathroom, so he gets a pair.
Near the end of the aisle, he finds some trash bags, both large and small. He also notices some air fresheners in different scents like lavender and lemon. He chooses lavender.
Next, Ethan heads to the kitchenware section. He sees non-stick frying pans, cutting boards, and kitchen scissors. He doesn’t need them today, but he does grab a new dish rack, a few sponges, and a bottle of dish soap.
In the bathroom essentials area, Ethan gets a new toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, and some cotton swabs. He also buys a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and a bar of soap. On a nearby shelf, there are some bath towels, so he chooses a soft, gray one.
As he passes by the lighting section, Ethan looks at the LED light bulbs and remembers the one in his kitchen just went out. He picks up a two-pack of energy-saving bulbs. Right next to them, he sees extension cords and power strips, which always come in handy, so he grabs one.
Before heading to the checkout, he stops by the pet section. Even though he doesn’t have a pet, he likes to look. There are dog leashes, pet food, cat litter, and even small pet toys.
At the checkout counter, he places all his items on the conveyor belt. The cashier scans them one by one. Ethan pays, bags everything up, and leaves the store with a full heart and a full cart.
